End of the Year Sing-a-Long

OK, after this post I will be all caught up. First a little weekend recap. Basically, Mia had ballet rehearsal on Saturday, and I volunteered to help out for her class. It was a lot of fun, and she decided to attend a 5 week ballet intensive this summer along with 2 weeks at another school. She signed up for ballet 4 days a week for the fall and had me order some ballet books to learn the stories of the different ballets. She is going to be super committed in the summer/fall. I think it is great. She will either love it or hate it, and then we can make a decision about continuing or not. Emi got to attend another really fun birthday party. Ten said they had a great time. Emi also decided to continue with ballet and will be performing in The Nutcracker in December.

So, here is a sneak peak at our schools end of the year celebration. They do a sing-a-long and had out certificates. Short and sweet. We then head to the playgrounds to play and have watermelon. Using very few words.

Emi getting ready to receive her certificate.

Congratulations!

Playground fun.

Enjoying watermelon.

Mia running into the playground to applause. Very cute.

Congratulations Polar Bears. On to your next adventure.

There you have it. The girls are off to their second week of summer camp tomorrow. They are loving getting pool time every day and then having fun activities like tennis, soccer, zip lining, go karts, etc. We love our school.

Emi’s Graduation

On Thursday, June 8, Emi graduated from her 2s program…..a sort of pre-nursery class. It was a pretty big deal because she had some major separation anxiety…..ALL. YEAR. LONG…..but we made it through….and it helped save a tiny bit of my sanity.

When we walked in, the kids had on a little cap that they had made. SO CUTE!

She looks so sweet here.

The teacher called up each student and presented them with a certificate, sticker, and a book that she made about that student. She said that Emi loves art, science, and math….and continued on for the next several pages.

A mama’s girl 100%. I mean to the extent that she wakes up every morning and asks….I get to do so and so with you today, right? ….Wants to make sure she is right by my side.

….and here she is trying to punch Ten. Definitely our spirited child.

After the ceremony, the kids sat down to a very nice snack/lunch. I brought a vegetable tray that I had shaped into an owl, a pickle and olive tray, and the paper plates and napkins. It was so funny because people kept complimenting me on my pickles.  They were all like…wow these are so good. I think they thought they were from a gourmet food shop…but nope just from a jar at the supermarket.

We pulled a chair up for Mia. What was supposed to be a light snack turned into a feast. The parents really did a good job.

After snack, the kids sang their last goodbye song.”There will always be sumshine.” We then handed the teachers their gifts and said our goodbyes.

I totally dropped the ball on gifts, so I ran to Whole Foods before and filled gift bags with soap, lip balm, bath bombs, and gift cards.

So, one year down and next year off to pre-school.

Emi’s Moving Up Ceremony

Last week, we  all headed to Emi’s school for her “moving up ceremony.” Mia was already out of school and Ten took a day off so that we could properly make a big deal of it.

First, Mia and Emi sat down and made a crown for Emi. She chose pink since that is her favorite color. Everything must be pink.

Playing with toys before the class begins.

Choosing furniture to go into the dollhouse….and yes…Emi is wearing a purple leotard with a red sparkly skirt. She also has one Olaf sock and one Anna sock on. She clearly picked out her own clothes.

She rocked her crown for the entire class…and the entire next day!

After free time and crafts, we all sat in a circle to sing some of the kids favorite songs. Emi’s favorite song from this class is one where you say good morning to your eyes, nose, and mouth. She loves singing time.

After songs, each child was called up to receive their certificate. We all clapped loudly and then got a pic with the teacher. We will miss Ms. Risa so much. She has really helped Emi come out of her she’ll and gain more confidence.

Of course snapping lots of pics of Mia too. No hurt feelings.

After the little ceremony, the kids were all treated to a really nice snack spread. So nice that my girls skipped lunch. There was a fruit platter, homemade cookies, pretzels, and more. I brought in string cheese. It was super easy and the kids loved it. Some even had seconds. I was okay bringing something so simple since I had brought treats to every single class party plus Emi’s birthday celebration. Simple was key for the end of the the year.

Haha. Live this face.

You could tell that Emi felt very special which was great since that was the whole point. Congratulations Emi!

We weren’t finished for the day yet though. The next stop was swimming. This was the first time Ten was able to watch Emi, so they were both excited.

Showing off her muscles. Also, slouching does me no favors in these pictures.

Mia relaxing on a lounge chair with her books. Emi’s class is at a hotel, so plenty of space to relax.

Finally, we got to head home. By this time we were all so worn out that we decided to grab some takeout.

Chipotle for the adults. Shockingly, this was my first time eating here! The food was really good, but the portions were just way too much. Ten and I each got three meals out of our lunch.

Onigiri for the graduate. Her favorite food besides pizza.

Cheeseburger Happy Meal for a very tired Mia.

Ten getting ready to enjoy his food.

So, that was how we spent last Tuesday. One more class finished for the school year. Congrats Emi!
