On May 19 (Friday), after dinner, we drove to Mia’s school for the end of year ice cream social. It is open to students and their families. It is a time to play basketball on the courts, play a round of mini golf, play on the playgrounds, go boating, play soccer, or bounce around on the inflatables. So much to do on their campus, and of course eat ice cream.
I assumed that when we got there, the girls would go straight to the bouncy house….totally wrong. They wanted to get some boating done first.
Mia and Ten decided to go to the boats, and Emi wanted to try and catch frogs….so we had to divide and conquer.
Emi had no luck with the fish or frogs. She also almost tumbled into the pond a few time using a net that was much bigger than her.
After having fun down by the water, we all walked toward the soccer field for some bouncy house fun. They had one giant slide and then an obstacle course. The girls spent time on both, and Emi also joined in the fun. She always wants to go into the bouncy houses, but she hadn’t worked up the courage until this event. It is more the number of people that bothers her rather than the actual bouncy house.
Then the ice cream truck arrived! It is so much fun to see the kids get all excited about all of the choices they have available. So, what did they get? Mia had a Spider Man bar, a strawberry shortcake, and a Popsicle. Emi went with a Sponge Bob, a Fudge Pop, and an Oreo ice cream bar. Yes….3 each….it was excessive….but Ten let’s them go all out at this event. In all fairness, they probably burned a ton of it off running around in the heat, and I’m not going to make waves over a once a year event. I had a chocolate eclair bar, and one was plenty for me. Also, did I mention that the school pays for all of the ice cream that the students/parents/siblings order….and clearly you can eat as many as you want….and most people grab two….so very nice of them.
We stayed at school until just past 8:00, so we got home pretty late (8:45 maybe), but the girls went right to bed after showers. Such a fun little event.
