Our Visit to the Fire Station

So, I had several goals at the beginning of the month….and then we got hit by this cold. It has been causing sore throats, coughs, stuffy noses, and sometimes upset stomachs in our house. Ten and Mia seem to be the ones that just can’t kick this thing. Anyway, so basically….we have missed lots of school, lots of lessons, and spent a lot of time watching Toy Story of Terror.

However, we did decide to venture out the other day. I have no clue why….but we were kind of like…so, everyone is sick, but hey let’s go out and see what living humans are actually doing.

We were pretty lucky because we caught the Open House for our local fire station. You know, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a fire station to just hang out. I mean we had cheerleading practice at our local fire station when I was like 8…but it’s not the same thing you know. (Why did we have practice there?)

Anyway, we got cool plastic helmets (that became lethal weapons once they inevitably broke), coloring books, stickers, pencils, etc. I mean this place really did a kid’s event right. They did not have a pole though…we were told it had to be taken down…liability issues…We were kind of like WTF….but hey…I’m sure a grown adult who puts out fires…cannot possibly take the chance of sliding down a pole.

They had characters, a fake house that kids learned about fire safety with, and of course lots of trucks. Mia kept referring to the house as her “house of sticks, house of straw.” We are going through this really great phase of being obsessed with The Three Little Pigs and we especially like the Big Bad Wolf.

Even  Emi seemed to have fun sitting up in the trucks.

Mia made us all sit up in the truck while she drove us to go shopping.

The weather was absolutely beautiful and we had a good hour out before we went back home. Great morning. I leave you with this. Absolutely nothing to do with our visit, but just plain cute.
